Scottish Rugby is on a mission to get more young people playing the game, in schools and across your community. To encourage more young boys and girls to play the game, we’ve introduced a new initiative called Turn Up & Play. As the name suggests, it’s all about just turning up at one of the events across the country and having a go at playing, under the watchful eyes of experienced coaches.
We’re working with more schools than ever to run fun, safe rugby programmes where young people can give it a go, make friends, and build new skills. Turn Up & Play events are perfect for boys and girls, whether you are totally new to rugby or you’ve played before and just want another chance to get stuck in.
We are bringing together girls’ and boys’ teams from local schools to play, learn, and have a blast. No pressure. No experience needed. Just come along, join in, and make memories on the pitch!
Most events are for girls and boys, if you’ve been inspired by the Women’s Rugby World Cup, keep on the lookout for some of our Girls-only events in the list below!

If there is an event near you and your school is participating, why not come along to take part in our turn up and play school events? All events are suitable for people who have never picked up a rugby ball before, so don’t worry if you’re new to the sport. And inspired by the Women’s World Cup? Most events are for girls and boys, but remember to watch out for our Girls-only events!
If you don’t see your school listed below, speak to your PE teacher and let them know about the event in your area. Have fun, build friendships, get stronger and fitter and enjoy the best team sport in the world!
