U20 Scotland Training Squad
The initial Scotland U20 Training squad has recently been named, with a fantastic 9 Exiles being involved in the 32 man group. Following the Summer lead up programme and the successful game against Glasgow Hawks in early October, where the Exiles 20s showed their individual and collective talent in front of Scottish selectors, this is a great reward for the efforts of players and coaches alike. This is also a strong indicator that the Exiles programme is quickly becoming a major part of Scottish Rugby’s talent identification programme. There is a tinge of disappointment in that there are 2 or 3 others who have shown up well in training and at the game, who have not made the first sessions, notably Jamie Harrop (Leicester Tigers) and James Knight (Bedford). All is not lost yet as there is plenty of time for players to promote themselves, as the 6 Nations squad has yet to be named and there is the IRB Junior World Championship in Tokyo in May – June. Exiles in the Scotland U20 Training Squad November 2008David Morton (Bridgewater), Mark Anderson (Leeds Metropolitan University and Harrogate), James Taylor (Loughborough University), Ryan Wilson (recently joined London Scottish), Henry Pygros (Loughborough University), Cameron Brown (Loughborough University), Robbie Johnston (Leeds University and Leeds Carnegie), Paul Loudon (Durham University and Edinburgh Accies), Adam MacKenzie (Northumbria University and Darlington Mowden Park)
