Warriors Win Scotland Call-Ups
Glasgow Warriors forwards Johnnie Beattie and Moray Low have been called up to the Scotland squad session at Murrayfield later this month as preparations are stepped up for the 2008 RBS 6 Nations Championship._ Their selection is reward for what Scotland coach Frank Hadden has hailed as consistent effort during the Warriors’ Magners League and Heineken Cup games. The Warriors pair join their team-mates Thom Evans, Andrew Henderson, Graeme Morrison, Dan Parks, John Barclay, Kelly Brown, Dougie Hall, Alastair Kellock and Fergus Thomson, who were all part of the World Cup preparation group, for the one-day camp on Monday 17 DecemberBeattie, who played during last season’s Six Nations, said: It was obviously a massive disappointment not to be involved in the World Cup preparation squad but I had a pretty good pre-season and Glasgow’s home record has been encouraging. For me and the rest of the boys just now it’s about doing the day-in, day-out graft for the club but it’s great news to have been included in the squad.Low, who recovered from pre-season keyhole surgery on his knee cartilage, has been a frontline selection for the Warriors this season and has been a dynamic runner with ball in hand.He said: Last season was really good for me being involved with Scotland A._ My aim this season has been to get as many games as I can for Glasgow and put in good performances. It’s brilliant to have been included in the national squad. Both Beattie and Low are currently training hard ahead of Glasgow’s crunch Heineken Cup tie against Biarritz at Firhill on Sunday (kick-off 1pm)._
