Welsh joins Scotland as three ruled out
Newcastle Falcons prop Jon Welsh has been added to the Scotland squad after Willem Nel, Tim Swinson and Rob Harley were ruled out of the national team’s Autumn Test campaign through injury.
Nel and Swinson sustained an arm fracture and hand injury respectively in Saturday’s win over Samoa at BT Murrayfield, each requiring further specialist assessment.
Wing Tommy Seymour injured his toe in the same match.
A MRI scan was performed at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, which confirmed that the player will require ongoing treatment by the Scotland medical team before returning to training this week.
Harley sustained a knee injury in training last week with medical assessment confirming he will take no further part in the autumn campaign.
He has returned to the care of his club’s medical team.
