Women U18 7s Final | Thistles 0 – 22 Saltires
The second kick-off of the Fosroc Scottish Rugby Academy Finals Day saw two women U18 7s sides compete on the 4G pitch at BT Murrayfield.
Driving rain provided difficult 7s conditions and neither side was able to capitalise on some strong running play in the opening minutes as the slippy ball had an early impact.
The Saltires, playing in red, broke the deadlock after six minutes as Emma Orr dotted down after a powerful run from Ciara McCulloch.
They doubled their advantage as Orr got her second from long-range, but she could not convert her own score.
Half-time | Thistles 0 – 10 Saltires
The Saltires looked to build their lead early on in the second period but it was Eve Thomson’s run from the five-metre line that had the biggest impact as the rain continued to pour. Her surging effort took the Thistles up to half-way after some sustained pressure.
It was one-way traffic from then on in, however, as the Saltires asserted their dominance and Katie McLaren extended the lead to 15 points.
Chloe McCue touched down to add some gloss to the score line as the Saltires sealed a convincing victory.
Full-time | Thistles 0 – 22 Saltires
