He’s been involved with the international squad since 1996 and he just keeps getting better and better. Asked if he would allow lock forward Murray to lead out the team on Saturday, Paterson said he would have no hesitation should Murray wish to do so. It would give the fans a golden opportunity to show their appreciation of everything Scotty has done, he said. Paterson was speaking as the clamour for tickets for the match continued to grow. Supporters are being urged to buy tickets now. Paterson said the players appreciated the level of support – more than 47,000 tickets have now been sold – and expressed hope that a record for the fixture would be established. Tickets cost from£10 for children and students and from£20 for adults and can be bought via this website; through our credit card hotline on 0131 346 5100; and in person from the Scottish Rugby Ticket Centre, Roseburn Street, Murrayfield. The centre and hotline are open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Please note a booking fee applies for all credit card transactions.
