Hamilton Rugby Club Upgraded Grounds Ready For Action
23 Sep 2010
Hamilton Rugby Club will this week see over two years of effort come to fruition when the new playing surfaces at Laigh Bent are used for the first time as near neighbours and long time rivals Dalziel visit for the Premier 3 2nd v 3rd clash this Saturday. It was during season 2008/9 that the club decided to invest heavily in a major overhaul of the playing surfaces at the Laigh Bent facility and engaged Environmental & Design specialists SAC Consulting to oversee the work.Work got underway in July 2009 when the two back pitches were taken out of commission the top soil removed, earth levelled and top soil redistributed before leaving fallow for the winter.Work recommenced immediately following the last game of the 2009/10 season when the main pitch was ripped up, levelled and top soil redistributed. The programme included installing drainage and relaying all three playing pitches as well as the training areas. Installing training lights, improving security and laying a new enclosed 1stXV pitch with floodlights.Commenting on the work Hamilton Secretary Kevin Rodgerson said “We have invested£450K in refurbishing the playing facilities at Laigh Bent to provide our players across all age groups with some of the best facilities in the country. In addition, we have refurbished the gym and installed new equipment to provide our senior players with an in house facility for personal fitness programmes. Further work will be carried out at the end of next season but so far we are delighted with the progress we have made and look forward to seeing all of Hamilton Rugby Club’s players making use of the new facilities in the coming year.Hamilton Rugby Club welcomes new players and supporters at all levels. The ‘Bulls’ run three competitive Senior Teams and teams which cater for all age groups from 5 years upwards.
