The three-tiered WXV comeptition aims to raise the profile and competitiveness of women’s 15s by providing the global platform between Rugby World Cups to increase the reach, impact and value of the sport, growing the game as a whole.

Wins against Italy and Ireland in the final two rounds of the 2023 TikTok Women’s Six Nations confirmed Scotland’s place in WXV 2.

Cape Town will play host to the six-team competition with matches being played across the weekends of 14, 21 and 28 October.

The competition will be played in a cross-pool format, and participating teams for 2023 will include Samoa, Japan, South Africa, either Italy or Spain, and the fourth-placed team from the Pacific Four Series.

The sixth-placed regional position in the WXV 2 competition at the end of each season will be relegated to WXV 3. There will be no promotion to WXV 1 for the first two years.
