Scotland Women will host Spain on Saturday 30 September at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh as preparations get underway for World Rugby’s new global competition, WXV in October (kick-off 5.45pm).
The hosts secured their spot in the second tier of the competition, WXV 2, which will be held in Cape Town this October, after finishing fourth in the recent TikTok Women’s Six Nations championship.
Spain will feature in WXV 3 in Dubai later this year, with the side missing out on a place in WXV 2 after a 23-0 defeat against Italy in the tournament qualifier.
Scotland’s previous clash with Spain was during the 2021 Rugby World Cup Europe Qualifiers tournament in Parma, with the Scots holding off a late comeback from Spain to record a 27-22 victory.
The hosts will be looking to continue their recent spell of promising performances, with the side recording two back-to-back victories against Italy and Ireland in April.
Scotland Women Head Coach, Bryan Easson, said: “We enjoyed an encouraging conclusion to our recent TikTok Women’s Six Nations campaign and this test against Spain is the perfect opportunity to continue the positive momentum and keep building as a squad.
“We are thoroughly excited to get underway with WXV preparations and with all the teams confirmed for the competition in South Africa, it is vital that we expose and test ourselves against different playing styles and opposition.
“To finish the tournament with a record home crowd was a truly special occasion for everyone involved and it would be brilliant to see the support back at the stadium before we fly to Cape Town.”

Match Tickets: Digital-only tickets on the new FREE Scottish Rugby Ticketing App
To improve access, security and sustainability on Scotland matchdays, all Scotland match tickets are being issued to the Scottish Rugby Ticketing App to be scanned at the turnstiles for entry into the stadium. Your Scottish Rugby ticketing account – the one you used to purchase your tickets – will link your ticket(s) to the new App using the mobile number registered to your ticketing account. As there should only be one ticket per device, all ticket holders (except children or dependents) must download the app so the purchaser can transfer their tickets to their devices in order to enter the stadium. If you’ve bought a few tickets for family or friends, you’ll be able to transfer these tickets to each person in your group once they have downloaded the app to their smartphone.
You can find out more about the new Scottish Rugby Ticketing App, which was launched last October HERE and the answers to a wide range of Frequently Asked Questions about the Ticketing App can be found on the ASK Scottish Rugby section of this website HERE.

Young people can be inspired through sport, and rugby is a game with special values that can transfer into young people’s everyday lives: Leadership, Enjoyment, Achievement, Engagement and Respect. We believe bringing a children’s group to support Scotland Women at HIVE Stadium is the best, easiest and most affordable way to allow young people to experience these values in a safe and friendly environment, while also enjoying the excitement of thrilling international rugby.
A minimum group size of ten (eight children and two adults) is required to be eligible for the offer. We are again providing the first two tickets for adult chaperones FREE of charge, to thank and reward the adult organisers for their time and effort in bringing the group to the game. Further discounted adult tickets can also be purchased, the number depending on the size of the group – we offer two discounted adult tickets per eight children, but if your local authority/organisation requires more than the two adults per eight children ratio, you can apply for additional chaperone tickets. (Please note on your application your reason for requiring any additional chaperones).

Once the deadline has passed, we’ll let you know whether your application has been successful and request payment at this point. The deadline to apply is Sunday 3 September.
