Edinburgh and Borders & East Lothian Academy Manager Bruce Frame said: “Obviously it’ll be a different challenge with Newcastle Falcons, we don’t know a lot about them so it’s the challenge of building on where we got to last weekend with the two wins against Glasgow, I think that’s what the coaches would be looking for.

“We’ve got really good depth across both our teams in all positions, so it’ll be really interesting to see how they go with a different type of challenge in the Newcastle teams.”

Glasgow & the West and Caledonia Academy Manager Jamie Dempsey added: “Any time you’ve got external teams coming across the border, it’s really good for us to benchmark what we’re doing internally.

“For the two Glasgow teams, they’ve got a great opportunity after a year’s worth of hard work to sense check where they are in their trajectory of learning by competing against their peers, which will be really enriching for them.”
