As part of the U16 Girls Pathway Performance Programme, players were selected into two squads from the Regional Game Series in February. The squads have gone through a seven week programme, culminating in the international festival.
The programme predominantly focusses on the players’ individual development and gives each player exposure to a more structured and intense training in preparation for their future journey. It plays a crucial part in helping understand how to plan and prepare for the demands of camp and competition.
Scotland U16 Head Coach Gordon Lyon said: “The programme has been so exciting this year. This is it’s third year it was the hardest selection to date, a real testament to the growth of the game by the hard work done at clubs and schools.
“It’s a fantastic group to work with as they all show great aspiration and love learning and pushing themselves. We have been made to work really hard as coaches to challenge and stretch this group and they just keep at it.
“The best part of the programme is watching them implement all the things they have developed at this festival. Last year was a superb learning opportunity and with 16 players returning this year we can’t wait to see how they have grown.”
