Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership feature match: Hillhead Jordanhill v Watsonian
Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership league leaders Hillhead Jordanhill travel to Myreside tomorrow to take on 2023/24 finalists Watsonian FC.
After convincing wins over Heriot’s Rugby Women (79-5) and Stewartry (74-7), Hillhead are looking for three on the trot.
Meanwhile, Watsonian are setting out to reverse their fortunes from the previous week’s loss against Stirling County (40-15).
There are still three undefeated sides in the Premiership, with Corstorphine and Stirling joining Hillhead at the top.
Five things to watch out for this weekend:
- After the announcement of the academy/pro player draft last week, Edinburgh academy product Jerry Blyth-Lafferty goes straight into the Melrose front row as starting hooker.
- Watsonian’s Talei Tawake takes on Hillhead Jordanhill this weekend and was named in preseason by Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership representatives as an up-and-coming player to watch this season.
- Traditionally a scrum half, Watsonian’s Rachel Law starts at full back this weekend, leaving space for Mary Nelson to step in at 9.
- The Edinburgh derby this weekend sees Heriot’s host Accies – and as both sides took five points from round one, they will look to consolidate their early form.
- Currie Chieftains take on Melrose this weekend, with both sides hoping to bounce back from their close losses in round one.
