USA advancing in midfield until a shuddering double-hit, and then we get the penalty.

Amazing kick from Hocking, we’re only 10m out on the right.

The forwards push hard to get to the line, and it’s McVie again who can’t be stopped under the posts. Hocking converts.

Cockburn steals the lineout, and we get up to the line with penalty advantage. Hocking’s cross-field attempt doesn’t work, and we go back to tap the penalty.

Jerry Blyth-Lafferty’s two-try performance is over. On comes Seb Stephen.

Inventive short kick off from USA and they keep the ball, but then Currie wins the jackal penalty and Patterson goes quickly.

Doyle finds some space on the right and stabs a low kick through. It goes out on the 22, USA lineout there.

Scotland 29-3 USA

Off comes Freddy Douglas after an outstanding shift. On comes Ollie Duncan for his Scotland U20 debut.

USA steal the lineout, get a penalty and go quickly. But at the first breakdown Douglas is in there again for yet another jackal penalty.

We kick to 15m out on the right.

We’re going backwards phase after phase, but a let-off as USA are offside.

Good yards made from USA as they rampage up the centre, but a spill at the base of the ruck gives Scotland the ball back.

Smith’s kick is good. USA on the board.

Several phases for the US in midfield, and then this time Douglas’ jackal attempt is no good and he’s pinged for not releasing.

They’ll go for goal from just outside the 22, just left of the sticks.

Tries from Euan McVie, Johnny Ventisei and Tom Currie have us 17-0 up at the break.

From kick off, McConnell and Currie break up the middle, but it’s eventually spilled by Doyle.

USA kick clear and then there’s a knock on. USA scrum, and they use it to end the half.

Upwards of 15 phases from Scotland in the 22. Not many of them for more than a few inches of gain, but they all count! It’s Tom Currie who eventually makes the final inches. McLean wide from the tee.

Scotland get the penalty at the breakdown in USA’s half. Kicked just inside USA’s 22 on our left.

It doesn’t reach the sticks and Gywnn fires a kick down field.

Ruaraidh Hart deemed to have illegally interfered in a midfield ruck.

USA will go for posts from just inside our half, slightly left of the posts.

The kick doesn’t find touch though, and Gwynn marks before hoofing clear.

A scrappy phase where the ball hit the deck three of four times comes to a conclusion with Ventisei knocking the ball forward in a tackle.

From the edge of his 22, the scrum-half snipes at the base of a ruck and flies clear. Sprinting for the left corner, he finds Jerry Blyth-Lafferty who showed incredible determination to keep up with him.

From the next phase, we ship out to the right when Ventisei straightens, splits the midfield and dives under the posts. McLean converts.

Scotland pinged for an offside. USA find touch around 35m from our line on their right.

Again the referee deems the maul is illegal.

The scrum stays up this time, but at the ruck Freddy Douglas is straight over the ball for the jackal penalty.

McLean looks for Gwynn with the kick to the left wing, but there’s just slightly too much on it and it goes into touch. USA lineout just outside their 22.

But it’s not straight! Scotland will get the scrum and another attacking platform.

The lineout leads to a driving maul which is brought down inches short, and from there the forwards continue to fight. It’s Euan McVie who manages to reach the line on the left side! Conversion from McLean is wide.

Against the head, him and Robbie Deans win us the scrum penalty. It’s kicked to the left corner.

From the lineout Johnny Ventisei hits the flat line, but loses it in the tackle and USA escape.

Conor McAlpine the knocks on in a tackle. USA scrum around 30m from their line.

USA chip over the top and Fergus Watson is beaten to the ball. It’s hacked deep into our 22 and picked up by McLean.

But he’s away down the left! He finds Gwynn, who kicks ahead. USA recover and clear, but Ventisei runs it back.

We get the penalty deep in USA’s 22 for not rolling, and it’s kicked to the right corner.

We steal the lineout but a few phases later Andrew McLean drops it under pressure.
