Girls Regional Game Series 2025 squads confirmed
Scottish Rugby has today confirmed the squads selected for this season’s Girls Regional Game Series (RGS) ahead of the first weekend of fixtures at Highland Rugby Club.
The Series, which is now in its third year of operation, aligns with the Women’s & Girls’ Strategy and has been developed collaboratively by Scottish Rugby’s Rugby Development and High Performance departments.

This programme serves as a key entry point into the female youth talent pathway, providing a competitive development opportunity for identified young players across Scotland, irrespective of geography or local environment, and is used to support talent identification for National Age Grade programmes.
Players who have previously participated in the RGS include Scotland Women U18 cap, Poppy Mellanby and Scotland Women U20 caps, Holland Bogan and Emily Coubrough, all of whom are currently playing in the Celtic Challenge with Glasgow Warriors.
The 2024 iteration will see three regional teams competing at both U16 and U18 levels: Caledonia, East, and West.
The selection process was highly competitive, with over 350 players nominated by clubs and schools. Following rigorous assessment sessions, 130 players have been selected to represent their regions in the first round.
Each regional team has been appointed a dedicated Team Manager, Lead Coach, and a full coaching team, ensuring players receive expert guidance and support throughout the Series.
Speaking ahead of the Series starting, Scottish Rugby’s Head of Regional Pathways and Game Development, Neil Graham said: “The Girls Regional Game Series offers a fantastic platform for promising young players to challenge themselves in a more high-intense environment, allowing them to accelerate their development beyond their previous local experiences. This initiative is a vital step in our talent pathway, not only for players but also for coaches and match officials striving to progress in the game.
“I want to extend my gratitude to the clubs, schools, coaches, and players who engaged in the nomination and assessment process, as well as to our dedicated Scottish Rugby colleagues, and volunteers for making this Series possible.
“We hope this experience will be both rewarding and inspiring for the selected players as they take the next steps towards our U16 Pathway and U18 National Age Grade Programmes.”
The next two rounds will take place at Dalziel RFC on Sunday 9 February, with the final round raking placing on Sunday 23 February at Peffermill Playing Fields in Edinburgh.
