Hadden Believes Team Can Bounce Back
Scotland coach Frank Hadden has called on his players to be more astute at reading what’s in front of them as he strives to raise spirits following last weekend’s RBS 6 Nations Championship loss to Italy. Whether (last) Saturday becomes a totally negative experience, we won’t know until the Ireland game, he asserted. Hadden, who put his squad through their paces at the indoor facility at Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University today, reiterated that it was important to ascertain whether Scotland could have played the high-tempo game he asked of his team. I honestly believe we could have gone out and played conservatively as we did in Rome last year. But we need to find out a bit more about this team. What we find out is under severe pressure who steps forward and who steps back? Just because you did not step forward doesn’t mean you’re not a good rugby player. I’ve never said we’ve got the best squad in the world but we have a squad capable of taking steps forward to the World Cup, he said.
