Hadden Challenges Scotland A Players

Speaking as the squad convened at Murrayfield, Hadden declared: I have promised the entire squad that they will get a fair crack over the next three games. There are still opportunities for players to convince me that they merit a place in our Rugby World Cup squad. Graeme Morrison, the Glasgow Warriors centre, was absent from training today as he was suffering from sore sinuses, while Simon Danielli, the Border Reivers wing, did some individual work with the physio team as he had a tight hamstring. Jason White, the Scotland flanker who is continuing his rehabilitation from the knee surgery he underwent last November, joined the A squad for their warm-up. Hadden added that frontline Scotland internationalists who were not involved in the tournament – which opens for Scotland A with a match against the USA at Henley next Wednesday (kick-off 6pm) – would reconvene for squad training at Murrayfield on 4 June. There are 26 players who are coming in on June 4 and we’ll probably extend that to 38 for our Rugby World Cup squad so there are around a dozen places up for grabs and that’s quite a target for players involved in the Barclays Churchill Cup, he said.
