Scottish Women??™s Rugby (SWRU) have struck up a strong partnership with the Weatherford??™s Pipeline & Specialty Services group (P&SS) who are pledging their support to them on the road to qualification for the IRB Rugby World Cup 7s in Dubai in 2009. Scottish Women??™s Rugby (SWRU) have struck up a strong partnership with the Weatherford??™s Pipeline & Specialty Services group (P&SS) who are pledging their support to them on the road to qualification for the IRB Rugby World Cup 7s in Dubai in 2009. The Weatherford??™s sponsored rugby club Rugby Ecosse and the SWRU are combining resources and experience of the Dubai tournament to give players from the SWRU Performance Programme a chance to gain invaluable insight and important game time at the Dubai International Women??™s 7s rugby tournament in Dubai, November 29 – December 1, ahead of Scotland Women??™s World Cup qualification attempt this summer. Kenny Murray, Rugby Ecosse team coach, said:???This trip is an excellent opportunity for players to develop key skills for the 7-a-side game and will play a crucial role in preparation for the IRB Rugby World Cup 7s in 2009. ???The International Ladies Tournament in Dubai will provide a real test for the team with high quality opposition expected at this year??™s event.??? The Rugby Ecosse side have an excellent track record in the women??™s competition, having previously fought off intense battles, and made it to the final every time. In 2005 they won the coveted prize, and in 2006 they were just pipped to the post by Greater Little Rock, USA. Murray welcomes the partnership with Weatherford??™s and Rugby Ecosse, saying: ???They have been a loyal and generous supporter of rugby 7s in both the men??™s and women??™s game in Scotland.??? Keith O??™Connor, VP of Weatherford??™s Pipeline & Specialty Services group, added: ???The girls have done us all proud in the past and we look forward to seeing them in the final once again. We have sponsored the Rugby Ecosse 7s team for the last ten years and we are very happy to continue our support of the Scotland Women??™s team. This will give the women a golden opportunity to play in front of 25,000 people in one of the highlights of the Dubai programme.???
