Jacobsen On Scotland Recall
Allan Jacobsen admits he was delighted to return to international duties with Scotland after being selected for the national team’s RBS 6 Nations’ opener against France at Murrayfield on Sunday; erasing any lingering memories of his World Cup nightmare. The 29-year-old prop’s involvement in the tournament came to a premature end after he suffered a serious calf injury during Scotland’s opening World Cup match against Portugal. But he has bounced back to full fitness and impressed Scotland coach Frank Hadden with his convincing displays at the coalface as Edinburgh have climbed up to third place in the Magners League.Jacobsen said: Obviously I’m delighted to get another chance to wear the Scotland jersey again. The injury against Portugal was really disappointing and as set-backs go it was a pretty big one.But rather than sit around feel sorry for myself about my situation, I was determined to get back into the Scotland team. I was lucky that before the injury I was the fittest I had ever felt and that gave me a foundation to work on.I was originally expected to be out for about five weeks, but luckily I got back sooner than that and managed to do well in the Edinburgh team. I am just very proud of getting the opportunity to play for Scotland in my home city and I want to prove my worth.
