Modern Apprentices help Scottish Rugby take our sport to the community
Scottish Rugby today welcomed Cabinet Secretary for Fair Work, Skills and Training, Roseanna Cunningham MSP, to a rugby festival for Primary 6 and 7 pupils in the Currie and Balerno area.The festival was held at Currie RFC’s Malleny Park and was organised by Scottish Rugby/City of Edinburgh Modern Apprentice, Callum Ramm, with assistance from Edinburgh City Council Regional Development Officer, Ruaridh Pye.Scotland and Edinburgh Rugby prop Alasdair Dickinson was also present to encourage the youngsters.Ramm, 18, who plays full-back/wing for Edinburgh Accies and was educated at Trinity Academy, is one of 57 Modern Apprentices currently employed by Scottish Rugby.The MAs are integral to enabling Scottish Rugby, rugby clubs and local authorities to deliver rugby to the wider community.Ramm himself has taken the game to thousands of school children in around 40 primary schools in the Edinburgh area.Today’s visit by the Cabinet Secretary was part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.Our picture shows the Cabinet Secretary (centre) with Scottish Rugby’s Head of HR, Julie Armstrong (left) and Callumm Ramm (right).
