More than 30,000 supporters have already booked their place for the derby decider in the capital, where just 12 points separate the sides after Glasgow Warriors claimed a 24-12 win in yesterday’s opener at Hampden Park, with the silverware settled on the aggregate score in six days’ time.
Last season a record-breaking 40,000-crowd turned out for the finale and fans are snapping up the remaining seats at speed.
Supporters are encouraged to act now to secure the best view and best value seats in the stadium as anticipation intensifies for the inter-city derby.
All tickets purchased online are delivered straight to the Scottish Rugby ticketing app and can be purchased on the day.
Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth said: “Surpassing the 30,000 mark this early for the 1872 Cup decider is massive. Our fans are the heartbeat of this club, and we can’t thank them enough.
“We’re hot on the heels of last year’s record 1872 Cup attendance and it’s shaping up to be an historic day of intercity rugby. The action kicks off at Hive Stadium as our women’s team face Glasgow Warriors in the Celtic Challenge at 12 noon, and I’d encourage everyone to get their tickets early to support both teams in this massive double-header.”
He added: “We’re calling on all rugby supporters, sports fans, families and event goers to cap off their Christmas and kick start their Hogmanay with us here at Scottish Gas Murrayfield.
“The 1872 Cup so much to offer from the best Scotland players going head-to-head on the pitch, to a full and vibrant pre and post-match atmosphere off it.
“We’re proud to represent Scotland’s capital in what has become a true highlight of the festive sporting calendar.”
