Change in details for Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership final

10 Dec 2024

A revised set of timings have been announced for the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership final this Saturday which sees Corstorphine Cougars face Stirling County.

STIRLING, SCOTLAND - AUGUST 09: The Arnold Clark Premiership launch day at Stirling Rugby Club, on August 09, 2024, in Stirling, Scotland.

The match will be streamed live on scottishrugby.org with a new 1:30pm kick-off time, from Union Park in Corstorphine.

Cougars host the final, as determined by national competition rules, through finishing top of the Premiership regular season.

This has seen a change in previously announced broadcast plans. Due to the facilities available and winter daylight hours, BBC ALBA were unable to broadcast the game live at the original kick-off time of 4:10pm.

BBC ALBA will continue to broadcast fixtures from the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership in 2025, including the final in April.

The two sides have agreed to the revised 1:30pm kick off time, with BBC ALBA allowing Scottish Rugby to stream the final live on scottishrugby.org from 1:20pm onwards, ensuring those who can’t travel to Union Park can still watch the final.

These teams have history. Two late tries for Corstorphine secured a 34-22 victory in round four, away at Bridgehaugh this season. The return fixture at Union Park was even closer, when in round 11, County made a remarkable comeback from 17-0 down at half time to almost clinch a game-winning try in the dying embers of the match.

Instead, County had to settle for a 20-19 loss, setting up a grandstand third and final rematch at Union Park.

Corstorphine have gone undefeated in the regular season and a win this weekend would mean a 15th game unbeaten. Doing so in front of their fans would be the cherry on top of a fantastic red and blue cake.

Stirling, meanwhile, fought off another worthy side in Watsonian FC to book their spot in the final. It came down to their head-to-head record, with both sides finishing on 58 points from 14 matches.

Scottish Rugby Director of Rugby Development Gav Scott said he was looking forward to the top two sides locking horns at Union Park.

“We are pleased to have arranged an alternative broadcast option for people all around Scotland to tune in to watch the showpiece of the Arnold Clark Women’s Premiership this season.

“I would also like to thank BBC ALBA for their flexibility with regard to this final. It will be a fantastic match and it’s so important we showcase this occasion which will determine who ends the season as Premiership champions.”
