Fiji and Scotland to celebrate record-breaking matchday

17 Jul 2026

Scotland and Fiji are set to make history together this Saturday as ticket sales for the Round 3 Nations Championship clash have officially surpassed Fiji’s previous home record crowd of 50,209 (achieved last weekend at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool for their game against England). Whilst on the pitch there will be a spectacle of free-flowing rugby in efforts to close out the Southern Series with a result, the weekend represents a true celebration of culture, combining the hospitality of Scottish Gas Murrayfield with the vibrant traditions of the Pacific Island. Adults tickets start as low as £26.25, under-18s from £13.13 and under-12s free in Category 3 sections: get tickets here.

Celebrating a shared connection

The record-breaking crowd underscores the deep and growing bond between Scottish and Fijian rugby. Just last summer, Scotland travelled to the Southern Hemisphere to face the Flying Fijians in Suva. After experiencing the incredible warmth and passion of the Fijian public on their own soil, it is highly fitting that Scottish rugby supporters, alongside the Fijian diaspora, can now reciprocate that hospitality. Celebrating Fiji’s achievement right here in Scotland embodies the coming together of Hemispheres in the spirit of the new Nations Championship. Watch the team as they experienced the Fijian Bula Spirit on last year’s summer tour.

This historic fixture marks the twelfth meeting between the two nations since they first took to the pitch together in Scotland back in 1989. Over the last four decades of fixtures, this head-to-head has developed into a highly respected rivalry that offers world-class attacking rugby and Saturday’s landmark occasion offers a perfect opportunity to enjoy that shared history.

Experience the matchday atmosphere

Scottish Gas Murrayfield will be a hive of activity before the 2:10pm kick-off, as gates open at 12noon. Fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Pacific culture in the authentic Fijian Fan Zone complete with traditional thatched Bures, interactive cultural activities, and live music from celebrated performers like Paradise Rootz and the Primanavia choir.

The celebrations move onto the main pitch from 1:50pm for a spectacular pre-match showcase, featuring traditional warrior dancers, Lali drummers, and the powerful Cibi cultural challenge, making it essential to take your seats early.

Forecaster predict there will be Pacific Island sun beating down on Scottish Gas Murrayfield this weekend and fans are encouraged to stick around after to match to watch South Africa v Wales from 4:40pm on the West Fan Village big screen.
