Four changes for U20s ahead of Argentina test

Fergus Pringle’s side take on Argentina this Sunday in the 5th placed semi-final looking to equal the finish achieved by John Dalziel’s side in 2017. The winner will play Australia or Wales.

Pringle makes four changes for the match against the Argentines with Alex Bryden, Hamish McArthur, Will Pearce and Oliver Finlayson-Russell replacing Campbell Waugh, Matthew Fick, Ollie McKenna and Jack Utterson.

On the bench, Archie Appleby and Harry Soboil come into the matchday 23.
Stand-out performer against Japan, Jake Dalziel retains his place at fly-half and is named as vice-captain, partnering Hamish McArthur.

Try scorer on Tuesday, Daniel Kelly, retains his place on the wing with Nairn Moncrieff named on the other flank.

The side is once again captained by Joe Roberts.

Argentina come into the match on form having defeated USA 78-14 in their first game followed by a 62-40 win over Ireland. In their last match, they lost out to England in agonising fashion, losing 40-38.

Head coach Fergus Pringle said: “It’s been a really positive tournament for us. We’ve acquitted ourselves very well in all the games as well as being able to rotate our squad and give a number of players the experience of playing at the top level.

“Our team have the chance to achieve our joint record finish in the tournament and that is a motivation for us, as well as having another opportunity to play together as a team and continue to learn and grow as a group.

“Argentina are a very talented side, losing to England by just two points in their last game and winning well against Ireland. It’ll be a tough match for us but it’s one we’re all really looking forward to.”
