2 Apr 2026

Amongst the players selected for the Scotland Women’s squad, ahead of the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations, are nine uncapped players, with seven being development players who are also eligible for Women’s U21 selection, but what’s their stories?

Emily Coubrough, Holland Bogan, Imogen Spence, Poppy Fletcher, Aicha Sutcliffe, Ceilidh Ainsworth and Rianna Darroch are all part of the squad as Development Players, having played in the Celtic Challenge this season for Glasgow Warriors. Hannah Walker and Aila Ronald have also been selected for the squad and are both looking to make their first appearances in a Scotland shirt. These players have been training with the squad at Oriam since training camp began on Tuesday 31 March.

Many of these players have had previous age-grade honours, with scrum-half Rianna Darroch having spent two years playing in the Scotland U18s team and spending a full season involved with Scotland U18 Sevens.

Poppy Fletcher, a former Heriot’s Blues player, has had her fair share of experience in the Scotland shirt, having been selected as captain for Scotland U18 in the inaugural U18 Six Nations Festival in 2022. The loosehead prop, who is also a brown belt in judo, played for Edinburgh Rugby in their 2023/24 season Celtic Challenge. Poppy made seven appearances before moving to Glasgow Warriors last season.

Emily Coubrough made her debut for Glasgow Warriors at the end of 2024 and at just 19 years old she has seriously impressed, starting in all 19 of her appearances for the side and playing more minutes than any other Glasgow Warrior player in the 2024/25 Celtic Challenge. The back row has previously been part of the U18 and U20 Women’s side and was part of the U20 training squad in May of 2025.

Holland Bogan, who started her rugby career at Eastwood High School and later Cartha Queens Park, makes her way into the senior squad after representing Scotland at U18 and U20 level. Holland made an appearance in 2022 for the Scotland U18 side, being named captain a year later. Making her debut for Glasgow Warriors at the end of 2023, Holland, who plays in the second row, has appeared 24 times for the side and picked up seven tries along the way.

Imogen Spence, hailing from Biggar RFC, has been named by new head coach Sione Fukofuka after being the first new player to be announced for Glasgow Warriors in the  25/26 Celtic Challenge. The tighthead prop has recently co-captained the U18 Scotland side at last years U18 Six Nations Festival in England.

Aila Ronald joined the Premiership side Garioch, based in Inverurie, and upon moving to Edinburgh for her studies in 2023, the hooker began playing at the University of Edinburgh. Before being named in the 2023/24 Celtic Challenge squad for Edinburgh Rugby, making five appearances in the campaign that year. Aila was given the honour of being Vice Captain of Edinburgh Rugby last year and has been part of the U20’s squad previously alongside being called up to the wider women’s squad last year, with the lure of a debut in reach.

Aicha Sutcliffe who began playing Minis rugby at Huntly. has proven herself with Glasgow Warriors, the hooker was part of the Glasgow side in 2023/24 but since last year has seen a spike in minutes. After attending Strathallan, Aicha moved to Stirling County for her senior rugby and has since taken huge strides, being part of the last two Premiership winning teams.

You can watch Scotland get their Women’s Six Nations campaign underway when they take on Wales away in Cardiff on Saturday 11 April, before Scotland host England at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday 18 April.
