George Horne said: “In the UK, sadly one in two people will get some form of cancer during their lifetime. It’s a condition that many individuals and their families have to face.

“At Glasgow Warriors, we are committed to being a force for good for our supporters and our community and if I can help Cancer Card in the love, care and practical advice they give then I’ll be proud to do so.”

George has won 26 caps for Scotland and scored seven tries and two conversions, since he made his debut against the USA in 2018.

Rugby fan, Hazel, who lives with cancer was also invited along to the event and given the opportunity to meet George. Hazel stated: “The appointment of George as charity patron is a great partnership for the charity and I feel George’s fantastic reputation will help raise awareness of Cancer Card’s very important mission”.

Jen Hardy, Founder of Cancer Card, expresses enthusiasm on the appointment of George Horne as the charity’s inaugural patron, marking a significant step for the organisation. She notes: “We’re thrilled to welcome George Horne as our first charity patron. His dedication to fostering positive change perfectly aligns with our mission to improve the lives of those affected by cancer. Together, we look forward to achieving new milestones and extending our reach across Scotland and the UK.”
