What is Origin Round?

Now in its second season, Origin Round is one of the BKT United Rugby Championship’s designated themed rounds in 2024/25.

Glasgow Warriors will be celebrating the grassroots clubs and schools that formed each of the club’s stars with a double-header at Scotstoun; an action-packed matchday kicks off with Glasgow Warriors women taking on Brython Thunder in the Celtic Challenge at 3.45pm, before Glasgow Warriors men welcome the Ospreys in the BKT URC at 7.35pm as they continue the defence of their title.

Both matches will be Club of Origin themed, where Glasgow Warriors are encouraging fans to come to Scotstoun Stadium wearing colours from their local rugby clubs.

How are Glasgow Warriors men doing this season?

Champions in 2023/24, it’s been a successful start to the season for Franco Smith’s Warriors, with the Scotstoun outfit currently sitting second in the BKT URC standings.

With eight wins from 11 matches to date this season, the home side will be looking to continue a run of form that has seen the club remain unbeaten in the regular season at Scotstoun since October 2021.

How about Glasgow Warriors women?

It’s already been an historic campaign for Glasgow Warriors women in the Celtic Challenge, after Lindsey Smith’s squad claimed a first-ever victory earlier this season by earning a 36-17 victory over Edinburgh at Scotstoun.

A youthful playing group has continued to grow and develop throughout the season, and will be looking to battle their way to a second win of the campaign in their final home match of 2024/25 this Saturday.

Who are the players to watch?

Having successfully returned from injury in the club’s last home BKT URC match, Ollie Smith has been at the heart of the Glasgow midfield in recent weeks, and the Marr RFC product will once again be looking to showcase the skills that have seen him become a staple in Scotland squads in recent seasons.

Duncan Weir will also be looking to continue his 100% record as captain, the veteran fly-half having led the Warriors to back-to-back victories in the BKT URC.

For Glasgow Warriors women, keep an eye on Briar McNamara in the midfield – the New Zealand-born centre has been a standout performer with three tries in her last three outings.

Poppy Mellanby will also be one to watch, having become the club’s youngest-ever player – male or female – earlier in 2024/25.

How can I get involved?

Match tickets start from £23 for Adults and £8 for U12s (+£1.50 booking fee per ticket). Match tickets for the individual games will NOT be sold separately and supporters will have the same seat for both fixtures.
