Glasgow Warriors v RC Toulon Quarter-Final Preview: Steyn eyes better performance at Scotstoun

8 Apr 2026

Glasgow Warriors Captain Kyle Steyn believes there is more to come from his side, as the men from the west prepare to face RC Toulon to Scotstoun this Saturday in the quarter-finals of the Investec Champions Cup.

The Warriors will welcome the French heavyweights for what will be the first-ever home tie in the last-eight for Franco Smith’s squad, having emerged victorious from a physical showdown against the Vodacom Bulls last weekend.

“We were very happy to get the win and we put in a lot of good work in spurts, but we all know that we were a little bit off in some areas,” said Steyn.

“The pressure the Bulls put us under played a big part in that, but we know that we need to improve going into this weekend.

“We’re happy to have another week at home though, and everyone knows the history and heritage Toulon have in this competition. We’re excited for another massive match this weekend.”

Saturday will mark the fourth consecutive season in which the Warriors have faced the three-time European champions, with the two teams becoming familiar foes in recent seasons.

Steyn paid tribute to the French outfit, highlighting the experience that lies within the Toulon squad ahead of the showdown.

“Toulon are a different beast again when you compare their style of play to the Bulls,” he said.

“They’re no stranger to knockout rugby and they know how to get results in these big one-off matches, so we know what’s coming. We’re excited for the challenge though and the boys will be ready.”

Whilst Saturday will be the first home quarter-final in the Investec Champions Cup in the club’s history, the match marks the eighth home knockout tie across all competitions of Franco Smith’s tenure as Head Coach.

With the fixture on track to be another sold-out occasion in Glasgow’s west end, the club’s captain paid tribute to the impact that the Warrior Nation can make on the big stage.

“The supporters have been amazing throughout the season so far, and especially in Europe,” said Steyn.

“The atmosphere has been incredible and I want to thank everyone for continuing to come out and get behind the boys.

“I know each knockout game is another ask on top of your season tickets and match tickets, so it really does mean a lot. Hopefully we’ll be asking you to secure your seats a few more times this season, and your support is massively appreciated by everyone at the club.”

The Glasgow Warriors team to face RCToulon this Saturday, 11April (kickoff 3pm), will be revealed on Friday at 12 noon.

With fewer than 500 tickets remaining, demand is high for this blockbuster clash. Supporters are urged to act fast and secure one of the final places at Scotstoun Stadium, including newly released standing tickets from just £21.50.
