This is Scotland’s last home game of 2024 before they head off to South Africa for WXV 2.

What the Head Coach, Bryan Easson, said:

“We’ve looked at Fiji, we don’t know them well so there has been a little bit more previewing of Fiji and because of that we have changed a few things.

“It’s an exciting week for us, it’s a first for everybody but it’s a real opportunity for us to continue to good stuff we saw against Wales as well as fix stuff that we weren’t overly pleased with at take it into this weekend.

“It’ll be an entertaining game – it’s Fiji. They’re a big front five. Their set piece, it’s big, but they’ll offload. They’ll have a go at us so we’ve planned accordingly.”

The stats

  • Scotland Women have never played Fiji in XV rugby before, making this encounter one for the history books.
  • Anne Young and Elliann Clarke earn their first Scotland start in the front row, and Meryl Smith starts at stand-off for the first time.
  • This is the 11th time Scotland have played at Hive Stadium; they have won five of the 10 played there so far, and have scored 226 points at the stadium.
  • The intrepid Atlantic and Pacific rower Taylor Winyard, part of the all-female trio who smashed the previous world record for rowing across the Pacific earlier this summer, will be delivering the match ball ahead of the game. Taylor and her colleagues completed the 2,800 miles from Monterey Bay in California to Hawaii in just 38 days, not only beating the previous women’s record by two days, but doing it a day faster than the male record! Be sure to be in your seat to see Taylor and applaud this astonishing achievement!
