Scottish Rugby is starting a process to recruit a new Chief Medical Officer which will initially involve sourcing interim medical/CMO level expertise whilst consideration is given to the future requirements of the CMO role.
Dr David Pugh has been in the CMO role since May 2024. He is currently supporting Edinburgh Rugby as its team doctor and will continue this role until the end of the season. His focus will then shift to a new Senior Doctor position within Scottish Rugby.
This more hands-on role will provide medical support to key areas including match days, player welfare, injury management and collaborations across departments, women’s programme and key stakeholders.
