Scotland Gear Up For The Us Pool A!
It’s a pretty formidable draw for Scotland 7s in San Diego next monthIt’s a tough challenge but one to relish, according to Scotland 7s coach Stephen Gemmell, as his side is drawn along with New Zealand, Wales and France in Pool A for the American leg of the IRB Sevens World Series tournament.’We played France in Dubai and played well to win but they always have the potential to play sevens out of the top drawer…Wales finished last season well and won the bowl final against England in the most recent IRB tournament in South Africa last month, while New Zealand have won both the IRB tournaments so far this season.’ However, after two worthy performances in the Series so far, including the thrilling win over Australia in George, he’s convinced the squad will build on the progress made for this fixture. ‘We’re on the front foot right now and we’ll be looking to keep the momentum going.’Following on from the upcoming tournament in New Zealand during the first weekend in February, the San Diego event takes place over the weekend of Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 February. The first day’s pool games see Scotland take on France at 10.22am local time. Next up are Wales at 1.28pm local time; with the final pool match against New Zealand at 5.40pm local time.
