Scotland Squad Training Update
Five additional players trained with the Scotland squad during this week’s preparations for the RBS 6 Nations Championship, which begins in nine days’ time with the visit of Wales to Murrayfield.Prop Moray Low, No 8 Johnnie Beattie (both Glasgow Warriors), flanker Scott Newlands, centre John Houston (both Edinburgh) and centre Rob Dewey (Ulster) were all enlisted to supplement the 33 players named by coach Frank Hadden last week. A number of players were able to take only a limited part in this week’s activities as a result of injuries sustained in club matches or illnessScotland coach Frank Hadden said: “We had a good three days training, mainly at Myreside where groundsman Willie Morton has kept their main pitch in excellent condition. We also trained at Spartans on the artificial surface and made the most of some great weather conditions. “There is an inevitable element within professional rugby of managing injuries but we’ll all be pleased if Scotland players having to play club matches outwith the country this weekend come through unscathed.”A further training update will be circulated when the Scotland squad reconvene at Murrayfield on Monday.
