Scotland Women Sent Off in Style

11 Aug 2025

On Thursday 7 August, the day of the 2025 squad announcement, Scottish Rugby and Vodafone hosted a surprise Send-Off event for our Women’s National Team with their friends, family and most loyal supporters in attendance.

Held in the historic St. Salvator’s Quad at the University of St. Andrews, Send-Off Sounds was truly a one-of-a-kind event for our national team. Scottish Rugby invited friends and family of the team, as well as a select number of Scotland Supporters Club members who were lucky enough to attend the evening.

Scottish Rugby and Vodafone wanted to host a send-off event with a difference, to truly show our support of the team and so, “Send-Off Sounds” was born. The idea was to not only wish our team good luck surrounded by friends and family, but to put on a concert with two of their favourite acts, a chance where they could enjoy the sounds of the songs they love with the people who back them week in and week out.

Former international and Scotland cap No. 99, Jilly McCord kicked the night off on behalf of The Thistles (the group of former Scotland internationalists) with some inspiring words to the team for their journey ahead.

“Leave nothing in the tank, enjoy every minute, and feel the roar of the Scottish rugby family behind you.”

Scotland Captain Rachel Malcolm and Coach Bryan Easson took to the stage to share their thanks to everyone there and their enthusiasm for the upcoming matches.

Speeches gave way to excitement amongst the crowd as host Caroline Blair revealed that Scottish artists Cammy Barnes and Nathan Evans and the Saint Phnx band would be performing as the surprise music guests.

Both Cammy and Nathan belted out their well-known songs like ‘Whisky Roll’ and ‘Home’ to the crowd and wished our team well for their first match against Wales.

The night wrapped up as Caroline Blair thanked all the guests for their unwavering support of our team.

Thanks to all those who travelled from Edinburgh and beyond to attend this amazing night, and to Principal Partner Vodafone for making it happen.
