Scotland’s Playlist returns for 2022 Autumn Nations Series
Scottish Rugby has announced that an initiative to support Scotland’s aspiring music talent, will return for Scotland’s four upcoming Autumn Nations Series matches, with a selection of artists being offered the chance to play live to the crowds at BT Murrayfield.
Following the success of Scotland’s Playlist in 2021 and during the 2022 Guinness Six Nations, which saw bands such as Go To Girl, The Laurettes, and Daytime TV perform at BT Murrayfield, artists have once again been invited to submit their music to support the promotional content of the Autumn Nations Series campaign and get the opportunity to perform on one of the biggest sporting stages in Scotland.
Scottish Rugby’s Head of Marketing, Lynsey McMillan, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this initiative back for the 2022/23 season.
“We had lots of great reaction from both supporters and bands over the course of the past season, and the music certainly enhanced both our content offering and our match days, so it’s very exciting that we’re able to launch it again for the 2022 Autumn Nations Series!
“Although it was an idea born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope it’s an initiative we can continue for some time to come. It’s fantastic we can use the reach of our channels and our events at BT Murrayfield to help support emerging Scottish talent.“
In addition to the opportunity of a paid live gig at BT Murrayfield in front of thousands, artists will have the chance for their work (fully credited) to be heard by the Scottish Rugby audience over social media and our website. The channels have substantial reach, internationally as well as domestically, so it is a great way for new music to be heard.
Interested artists can visit the dedicated page on the Scottish Rugby website to see further information and details on how to submit your music.
Previous winners Daytime TV said of the initiative:
“We were blown away by the reception we received at BT Murrayfield stadium ahead of Scotland’s massive win against Australia. Hearing our music blast around the stadium was an amazing feeling and we want to thank Scottish Rugby for supporting us and Scottish music.”
Whilst other winners The Laurettes commented during a gameday TikTok live that winning the competition “ has been great, it’s got us loads of new followers, we’re booked out for the rest of the year, so it has been amazing. It’s opened a lot of doors for us.”
Scotland will play Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina on consecutive weekends from 30 October and once again there is a high demand for tickets, with the New Zealand match already sold out.
