Scots Support Falklands’ Anniversary Game
Former Scotland international prop Mattie Stewart is coaching a Falklands Task Force rugby squad playing against the Penguins invitation team in a special charity match this weekend. The match at The Stoop, home of Harlequins in London, is to raise funds for the South Atlantic Medal Association as part of commemorations of the 25th anniversary of the task force that liberated the Falklands Islands in 1982.Former Scotland international prop Mattie Stewart is coaching a Falklands Task Force rugby squad playing against the Penguins invitation team in a special charity match this weekend. Stewart, capped 34-times and still serving in the Army, will be joined by 45-year-old Falklands veteran Paul Livingstone, from Perth, and 29-year-old Buckie born second-row Marsh Cormack from the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton. Another Scot, Scotland A team doctor Lt Col Alastair Nicol, brother of Scotland scrum-half Andy Nicol, will be the Task Force rugby team doctor. Scots included in the Penguins’ team are Scotland 7s internationalists Mark Lee and Oliver Brown in the back-row. The match will be played on Saturday (16 June) and will kick-off at 4pm. Tickets are available at £10 for adults and £5 for children and can be bought via a ticket hotline 0208 410 6000.
