Scottish Rugby secures new three year partnership with viagogo

Scottish Rugby is delighted to confirm today that it has secured a new, pioneering three-year partnership with viagogo, the world’s largest ticket marketplace. The deal will see viagogo become the new sponsor of this year’s November international matches at Murrayfield, which will now be branded the viagogo Autumn Tests. The matches are against Japan on Saturday 9 November; South Africa on Sunday 17 November; and Australia on Saturday 23 November. Tickets can be bought now at www.scottishrugby.org and through existing channels. Our picture above shows Scotland players Stuart Hogg (left) and Matt Scott (right) with Scottish Rugby’s CEO Mark Dodson and viagogo’s Oliver Wheeler at Murrayfield today.Supporters will be provided with a safe, secure and guaranteed online platform from viagogo on which to buy and sell tickets for all Scotland home matches over the three year period.International marketLaunched in 2006, viagogo operates in more than 50 countries around the world. It recently launched its service in Australia, against whom Scotland will play next month.Scottish Rugby joins nearly 100 of the biggest names in sport and entertainment who already work with viagogo across the world. These include more than 30 European football clubs, such as, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain, the French Open tennis championship and, in the world of entertainment, Madonna.Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Mark Dodson, said: “This ground-breaking deal is good news for Scottish Rugby financially and good news for our supporters both at home and overseas.”We’ve stressed that serving the supporter, our customer, is a huge driver for us. This deal gives us a significant extra outlet for tickets, extends our international reach in some of our biggest ex-pat markets and gives the supporter who, for whatever reason can no longer come to a game, the opportunity to recoup their outlay within our revised ticket sale terms and conditions, while also ensuring that additional revenues are invested in Scottish Rugby.”In the past, if you bought a ticket and were unable to attend a game, you were not allowed to sell on that ticket.  Clearly, like any organisation, we have to look at how we operate in what is a hugely competitive and disjointed market-place.”This selling is something that happens already and what we are doing is managing it more efficiently with a global partner.”This significant investment will also enable us to continue in our strategy of ploughing money back into the game in Scotland.”Our existing priority rights ticket groups, for example, our Debenture Holders, member clubs and season ticket holders are unaffected by this partnership.”A milestoneOliver Wheeler, Global Head of Communications for viagogo, said: We’re very proud to be working with Scottish Rugby. This partnership marks a number of milestones for our business, as it’s our first with a sport’s governing body, our first in Scotland and our first with branding rights. It is also the first of what we hope will be many partnerships with sport governing bodies.”Scottish Rugby is a forward-thinking organisation that shares our mission to provide access, security and choice to fans in Scotland, the UK and all over the world. We look forward to working together over the next three years.”Scottish Rugby’s existing portfolio of global brands includes RBS, Macron, BBC, BT, The Famous Grouse, Tennent Caledonian and Unilever.About viagogoviagogo is the world’s largest ticket marketplace with local language websites in nearly 50 countries. viagogo provides choice, convenience and consumer protection, so that people can buy and sell tickets for live events all over the world with confidence:• viagogo’s secure online marketplace has tickets to thousands of sports and entertainment events, even if they are sold out at the box office•  viagogo guarantee that buyers will get the tickets they paid for, in time for the event, or they will provide replacement tickets (or, in the rare cases where this is not possible, a full refund)• viagogo’s strict consumer controls have significantly reduced the amount of fraudulent tickets being resold• All tickets are delivered by a secure method, either electronically, by courier or at a viagogo pick-up point• viagogo provide a high level of customer service, in six languages, seven days a weekNearly 100 of the world’s leading sports and entertainment properties partner with viagogo to help them control and manage the resale market for their tickets.
