Scottish Rugby welcomes RBS 6 Nations TV agreement
The Six Nations Council today announced that they have accepted a joint bid from BBC and ITV to broadcast the RBS 6 Nations for a duration of six years from 2016.The new deal will see all of Scotland’s home games transmitted by BBC, who will also broadcast France and Wales’ home games.ITV will air the home matches of England, Ireland and Italy.Scottish Rugby’s Chief Executive, Mark Dodson, said: “Scottish Rugby welcomes today’s news. The RBS 6 Nations is recognised as one of the world’s greatest sporting events, and we are delighted that this new deal will reinforce the attraction of the tournament.”John Feehan, Chief Executive of the Six Nations, said: The RBS 6 Nations is unique, providing a rich and respected rivalry, with many or the world’s best players at the very pinnacle of their careers, playing for their countries with pride and in the right spirit. This agreement with two major broadcasters will ensure that all these aspects are reflected in the coverage for the fans to enjoy.”
