The sword of the highlanders and a homage to Scottish Gas Murrayfield on new kit
Scottish Rugby and Macron have launched the new home kit that the Scottish national teams will wear in the 2024/25 season.
The kit’s colours, traditions, and symbols emphasise the players’ and fans’ sense of belonging to the nation, and they are complemented by refined and exclusive details. Like all kits produced by Macron, the new home kit is again made exclusively from Eco Fabric, a polyester material derived entirely from recycled, post-consumer plastic.
Following the recent announcement, Arnold Clark will take on Scotland Men’s team front of shirt sponsorship for the first time with this shirt, with Scottish Gas continuing as front of shirt sponsor for the second year for Scotland Women.
The new home shirt is in navy blue, with a white polo neck and light green and blue details. The shirt features embossed graphics at the front and back, formed by vertical designs of ‘Claymores’, the ancient two-handed swords used by the Scottish clans in the late medieval period. The word ‘Claymore’ comes from the Scottish Gaelic’ claidheamh-mòr’, which means ‘large sword’. The Claymore represents a historic symbol of Scotland and the Scottish spirit.
The National Team changing room, used by both Scotland Men and Scotland Women at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, is home to Scottish Rugby’s very own Claymore. The Claymore was one of the items chosen as a symbol of our nation’s shared heritage by Scotland Men around a decade ago. It has an engraving on it in Gaelic which translates to ‘United Together’ or more aptly ‘As One’.
Another important detail on the lower back of the shirt is an embossed graphic motif representing Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, the historic home of Scottish rugby. The Macron Hero is embroidered in white on the chest, alongside the Scottish Rugby logo. The inside neck label is customised with a pattern inspired by the architectural features of the stadium on a navy blue background. The Scottish Rugby logo and the motto ‘As One’ appear on the right.
The new Away kit will be launched on Friday 9 August via Scottish Rugby and Macron channels.
The home kit is exclusively available now from the Official Scottish Rugby Stores in Queen Street, Glasgow and Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh and on-line. The kit will be available at all other retailers from 9 August.
Scotland Women will wear the new kit for the first time when they play Wales at Hive Stadium on Friday 6 September! Tickets are available to buy from the Scottish Rugby ticketing site.
