Valladolid Camp blog: day 1
Scotland Women are currently taking part in their most intense training camp to date, involving 37 players, in Valladolid, Spain which will form the backbone of their build-up to next year’s 6 Nations tournament. The camp has received significant funding through Erasmus+, a programme established by the European Commission that allows students and employees to experience cultural and work exchanges throughout Europe, through vocational and educational training.Kicking off our daily updates, we hear from stand-off Lisa Martin (pictured below):Scotland Women’s Erasmus+ camp started with standards and personal bests being set in fitness testing. With the heart rates lowered and the anticipation heightened the long journey south to Valladolid could begin in earnest.Day one consisted of the squad acclimatising to the camp lifestyle and daily training routines. Loosening the muscles and sharpening the mind were the session aims, with the eagerness from all being prevalent throughout both sessions. The hotel and ground staff have been more than accommodating, even helping us improve our Spanish ‘skills’.We’re also pretty sure the bus driver is more than appreciating our musical tastes so far! With the travelling cobwebs sufficiently blown away the squad are keen and ready to tackle day two’s contact and gym sessions – bring it!photo: the Scotland Women squad start training in their new surroundings in Valladolid
