Scottish pride and identity, as always, are the key features of the latest kit, along with quality, advanced technology and unrivaled performance. The new Macron shirt is made from Eco Fabric, a polyester fabric 100% derived from post-consumer recycled plastic that confirms the shared commitment of Macron and Scottish Rugby to the cause of sustainability and respect for the environment.

The new away shirt comes in shades of blue and white with navy blue details. The shirt has a navy blue polo neck, a lighter blue inside pleat, and a lace closure. The combination of navy and lighter blue is also on the sleeve cuffs. The shoulders and the top of the chest are white, but this shades into light blue, which becomes gradually darker towards the bottom of the shirt. The sleeves repeat the same shades of colour. Large blue bands run down the shirt’s sides and the back’s bottom is in the same colour.

The inside neck label adopts the same custom graphics as the home shirt on a navy blue background. The label features the Scottish Rugby logo, the motto #AsOne. A customised sweatband around the inside of the neck repeats the word Scotland, alternating with the Scottish Rugby logo.

Two important graphic details embellish the shirt. The words Alba gu bràth on the sleeves. The Scottish Gaelic phrase means “Scotland forever”. The other key feature is a dye-sub print of two crossed Claymore swords at the bottom of the shirt back. The Claymore is the ancient two-handed sword used by Scottish warriors between the 14th and 17th centuries.

This links to the design of the home shirt, which has the vertical design of Claymores running through it. The Claymore represents a historic symbol of Scotland and the Scottish spirit. The National Team changing room, used by both Scotland Men and Scotland Women at Scottish Gas Murrayfield, is home to Scottish Rugby’s very own Claymore.

The Claymore was one of the items chosen as a symbol of our nation’s shared heritage by Scotland Men around a decade ago. It has an engraving on it in Gaelic which translates to ‘United Together’ or more aptly ‘As One’.

Following the recent announcement, Arnold Clark will take on Scotland Men’s team front of shirt sponsorship for the first time this season, with Scottish Gas continuing as front of shirt sponsor for the second year for Scotland Women.

The home and away kit is available now from the Official Scottish Rugby Stores in Queen Street, Glasgow and Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh and on-line.

Scotland Women will wear the new home kit for the first time when they play Wales at Hive Stadium on Friday 6 September! Tickets are available to buy from the Scottish Rugby ticketing site.

To see the Claymore in the National Team changing room and to hear more about its history, book onto one of our stadium tours.
