21 May 2025

Knockout rugby returns to Scotstoun on Friday night, as Glasgow Warriors take the next step in the defence of their BKT United Rugby Championship title by welcoming the DHL Stormers in the 2024/25 BKT URC Quarter-Finals.

The two teams met at the same stage in last season’s playoffs, with Franco Smith’s men emerging with a 27-10 victory in front of an electric atmosphere at the home of the Warriors to kick-off the run that culminated with lifting the trophy on that famous night in Pretoria.

Boasting a host of Springbok talents, including up-and-coming sensation Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, the hard-charging Evan Roos and the electric Warrick Gelant, the Stormers – champions in 2022 – will be seeking revenge after defeat in last season’s quarter-final showdown at Scotstoun.

With just under 90% of seats sold across Scotstoun Stadium, match tickets are still available across each stand and priced from £23 for Adults and £8 for U12s (+£1.50 booking fee).

A Glasgow Warriors squad packed with international talent awaits their opportunity in front of the Warrior Nation, having welcomed 2025 British & Irish Lions stars Scott Cummings, Huw Jones and Sione Tuipulotu back into the fold over recent weeks following their respective returns from injury.

Smith’s men hold the upper hand in their head-to-head record with the Cape Town outfit, most recently earning a 28-17 victory in Stellenbosch back in Round Six of this season’s BKT URC.

On that occasion, tries from Johnny Matthews, Kyle Rowe, Henco Venter and the aforementioned Tuipulotu secured the win for the Warriors, Adam Hastings and Tom Jordan chipping in with two conversions apiece to seal all five points.

With a host of South Africa’s 2023 Rugby World Cup-winning squad – including Frans Malherbe, Manie Libbok and Warrick Gelant – as well as new Springbok phenom Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu at the Stormers’ disposal, however, the Warriors know that there can be no underestimating their opponents if their title defence is to continue to the final four.

Tickets are on sale now for the clash, which kicks off at 7.35pm on Friday 30 May at Scotstoun Stadium. Click here for full event information.
