Glasgow Warriors vs Toulon: Scotland Rugby Players Key in Champions Cup Quarter-Final
10 Apr 2026
A strong Glasgow contingent will on display once again as Glasgow Warriors prepare for Investec Champions Cup quarter-final clash with RC Toulon at Scotstoun.
There is a strong Scottish spine throughout the starting XV. In the front-row, Zander Fagerson anchors the scrum alongside Patrick Schickerling and Gregor Hiddleston. Behind them, the second-row pairing includes Alex Samuel, while the back-row features a trio well known to Scotland supporters: Jack Dempsey at number eight, flanked by Rory Darge and Matt Fagerson.
In the backs, the midfield combination will be of particular interest, with Sione Tuipulotu partnering Stafford McDowall. Tuipulotu’s leadership and attacking threat remain vital assets for Scotland, while McDowall builds on a Player of the Match performance last weekend.
Out wide, Scotland captain Kyle Steyn leads from the wing, joined in the back-three by Ollie Smith and Josh McKay, offering pace and counter-attacking threat.
At half-back, Ben Afshar steps in for the injured George Horne, linking up with Dan Lancaster in a partnership that will be tested by Toulon’s defensive pressure.
The bench also includes notable Scottish talent, with experienced international Adam Hastings providing cover, alongside emerging options such as Jack Oliver.
Several Scotland players remain unavailable due to injury, including Horne, Scott Cummings and Jamie Dobie, but the match still showcases a significant number of national team regulars.
With knockout rugby at stake and a home crowd behind them, this fixture presents a key opportunity for Scotland’s contingent to demonstrate their quality on the European stage.
