After becoming cap number 254 for Scotland Women, Ceitidh Ainsworth spoke about how it felt to make her debut and how she is feeling ahead of making her first start against New Zealand this weekend.
The 22-year-old scrum-half came off the bench in last weekend’s Vodafone Scotland WXV Series opening match against Canada to make first appearance for the senior national team.
Her second cap will come from the start, as she is set to line-up in XV against current second-in-the-world the Black Ferns on Saturday.
For somebody who only played their first game at scrum-half, after moving from stand-off, less than six months ago, it has been a whirlwind year for the young player, but one she has embraced.
“It doesn’t feel real,” Ceitidh replies when asked about how it feels to be one of Scotland’s newest caps.
“It’s been such an amazing experience. I’m speechless.
“As the game got closer, the nerves started to creep up but after the shirt presentation, all the nerves just went away and everyone was so supportive and said they had my back and wanted me to go out and play my game.”
