Scotland Women squad to travel to Australia for WXV Global Series double-header confirmed

Following three homes games in the Vodafone Scotland WXV Series against Canada, New Zealand and Australia across September, Scotland now make the trip down under for the concluding two matches of this year’s competition.

Scotland Women interim Head Coach Dave Butcher has named a 32-player squad to travel to Australia for the upcoming WXV Global Series fixtures against the Wallaroos in Sydney and Canberra.

Following three homes games in the Vodafone Scotland WXV Series against Canada, New Zealand and Australia across September, Scotland now make the trip down under for the concluding two matches of this year’s competition.

The travelling squad is made up of 18 forwards and 14 backs.

Lucia Scott returns to the squad following an injury that ruled her out of the home series whilst Rachel Philipps, who missed the final home match against Australia, is fit to return after overcoming concussion protocols.

Forwards Emma Wassell and Alex Stewart – who were named in the original 32-player squad for the home fixtures – were unavailable for selection due to injury.

Ceitidh Ainsworth and Katie Buchanan, both debuted in the past month, are both included, with Imogen Spence (tighthead prop) and Nicole Flynn (centre) the only uncapped members of the touring party.

Scotland take on Australia in Sydney at the Accor Stadium on Saturday 17 October, before facing the same opposition once more at the Gio Stadium in Canberra on Friday 23 October.
