It’s a game that means more than just points in the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership, as one side strive for the chance at a home final and the other pushes for safety in the Premiership at the end of the season.

Ayr are unbeaten since the end of November, while Marr are in search of their first win since the middle of December when they defeated Glasgow Hawks 23-12.

In the reverse fixture, in October, the men in pink came out trumps with a convincing 40-7 win over the purple machine.

Five things to watch out for this weekend:

  • In the other Friday night match, it’s third versus fourth as Watsonians host Currie. Just three points separated the sides in the reverse fixture, with Currie coming out on top 16 – 13.
  • The battle for survival continues for Glasgow Hawks and Edinburgh Accies as the Hawks host the blue and whites on Saturday. Hawks sit eighth and Accies ninth – just a point clear of the drop zone.
  • A Borders derby awaits as Kelso host Melrose. The visitors are sitting pretty in mid table, with Kelso still in the relegation zone, but only by a point. Just three points separated them in October, with Melrose snatching all the points there, 31 – 28.
  • Musselburgh are desperate for a win, and it will be tough going against second on the ladder Heriot’s. The reverse fixture was won by a rampant Heriot’s, who put 66 points on the men from Stoneyhill.
  • Selkirk host fellow Borderers Hawick as the home side continue to push the top four sides for a finals berth. Hawick won 27 – 22 in October, and Selkirk will be out to set the record straight.
