How Scotland’s Landscape Inspired the 2026/27 Home Kit

8 Jul 2026

Every time a player pulls on a Scotland jersey, they carry the weight and history of the nation onto the pitch. For the 2026/27 international season, that connection to the land goes even deeper.

The new Scotland home kit, designed in collaboration with Macron, is a direct tribute to the physical makeup of the country, blending the traditional dark blue with subtle design cues inspired by Scotland’s coastline. Get yours today

Shaped by Scotland

The creative vision behind this season’s kit was inspired by defining elements of the Scottish wilderness, sand and ice. While the body of the shirt retains the classic deep blue, the intricate details introduce these natural tones simultaneously to tell a story millions of years in the making.

The sand accents of the jersey pay homage to Scotland’s jagged, spectacular coastline. Stretching for over eleven thousand miles across the mainland and over 900 islands, it makes up a massive eight percent of Europe’s total coast. It is a landscape so deeply indented by the sea that no point in the country sits more than forty miles from the water. By weaving these coastal tones into the trim, the jersey carries a piece of the shores that the Scottish Rugby community calls home.

Contrasting this is the element of ice, represented by the light blue piping lining the sleeves and framing the re-engineered neckline. This is a nod to the powerful geological forces that carved the country’s sweeping glens and deep valleys. Though Scotland has no active glaciers today, the rugged grandeur of the landscape we enjoy today was shaped by massive ice sheets over the last 2.6 million years, with the very last remnants persisting in the Cairngorms well into the eighteenth century. This combination of permanence and resilience is engineered directly into the identity of the home shirt.

Detail in the trim

The 2026/27 home kit also delves deeper into the nature of the Scottish wilderness. Looking closely at the shoulders and sleeves reveals a beautiful, tone-on-tone pattern pressed directly into the fabric. The subtle design depicts stag antlers, a discrete homage to the rugged grandeur of the Scottish Highlands and the wildlife that inhabits it. It is an intricate, premium finish that balances modern sportswear design with classic heritage, visible clearly up close while remaining clean and understated from the stands.

On the chest, the kit features a crisp, three-dimensional thermoplastic application of the Macron Hero logo alongside a fresh execution of the Scottish Rugby crest. Inside the collar, a bespoke tape features the word “Scotland” alternating with the traditional thistle, ensuring the core symbols of national pride are embedded into the very structure of the shirt.

Crafted with environmental responsibility

In alignment with the values of modern Scotland, the kit is as sustainable as it is durable. Macron has constructed the entire matchday and replica collection from Eco Fabric, a high-performance polyester material derived entirely from recycled plastic bottles. By using advanced technical fabrics like Eco Armevo and Eco Bodytex, the jersey delivers maximum breathability and lightness for the players on the world stage, while sending a strong message of environmental responsibility.
