14 October 2022 USA Rugby Captain’s Run, RWC Round 2, Ngunguru, NZ.

The former Bath and England player has recently worked as a coaching consultant with USA Women’s team during the 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand and will join Bryan Easson’s coaching team as forwards coach.

In 2015, he was appointed England U20 Head Coach and led the national age-grade side to success at the 2016 Junior World Cup.

It has also been confirmed that Flo Laing has joined the management team as Scotland Women Lead Physiotherapist.

Laing previously worked with Edinburgh Rugby for three seasons and also worked with Scotland Women during the 2021 Rugby World Cup Final Qualification tournament in Dubai and the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations.

Speaking of his appointment, Haag said: “I’m delighted to join the Scotland Women coaching set-up.

“I was lucky enough to recently work with USA Eagles women’s team and then this opportunity came up to work with Bryan, Tyrone [Holmes] and rest of the management and players.

“It’s exciting to see the recent investment Scottish Rugby has made in the women’s game, particularly with professional contracts, but also the players themselves also seem like really dedicated individuals.

“We have some big challenges ahead with England up first in the upcoming TikTok Women’s Six Nations championship but I’m looking forward to getting started, building on the good work of Ross Miller and seeing what this team are capable of achieving.”

Laing said: “I’m thoroughly excited to be returning to the Scotland Women programme and to be working alongside this fantastic group of players and management once again.”

Scotland Head Coach, Bryan Easson, said: “It’s an exciting year ahead. Since the Rugby World Cup, we’ve seen some positive progress in our programme, with players receiving professional contracts, the Celtic Challenge competition getting underway and players performing well at their clubs.

“Today’s announcement is another boost to our programme as Martin brings a wealth of knowledge to the group and that experience will hugely benefit our squad.

“I’m looking forward to working with Martin and Flo ahead of the TikTok Women’s Six Nations.”
