In the hour-long meeting Vice President Keith Wallace was successfully ratified to succeed Colin Rigby as President of the Scottish Rugby Union.

Colin Rigby will continue to serve on the SRU Custodian Board for a further two-year term as Immediate Past President, which in turn sees former President Ian Barr step down from the SRU Board.

In the Vice President election, Hazel Swankie of Dunfermline RFC was elected, winning 75% of the vote, 78 – 25 against John Brown of Ayr RFC. Hazel will serve two years as Vice President before becoming Scotland’s second female President, following in the footsteps of Dee Bradbury of Oban Lorne RFC who held the role between 2018 – 2020.

Other business conducted at the meeting saw the consolidated Group annual accounts for the 2023/24 financial year formally received and heard an update from the Standing Committee on Governance.

Its Chair Bobby Frazer indicated that an SGM might be convened in the spring of 2025 to allow clubs to meet and discuss the governance around the Club Rugby Board, which represents the interests of community clubs and oversees investment and budget into Scotland’s domestic game, working closely with Scottish Rugby’s own Rugby Development Dept.

Speakers at the AGM included out-going President Colin Rigby, Club Rugby Board Chair Keith Wallace, Scottish Rugby Limited Chair John McGuigan and Interim Chief Financial Officer Oliver Colling.
