Scotland Women kick off their Vodafone Scotland WXV Series on Saturday 12 September at Hive Stadium against a formidable Canadian side. Currently ranked third in the world and coming off a stellar World Cup campaign in 2025 that saw them reach the final, Canada arrive in Edinburgh before taking on England and France. With Head Coach Kevin Rouet naming a strong 36-player traveling squad, the visitors present a major physical and tactical test for a Scotland side on home soil.

Under the Guidance of Rouet

Head Coach Kevin Rouet has established a clear, unified identity for Canada in his time at the helm which has included a World Cup runners-up medal. Having initially served as an assistant before taking the head coaching role in 2022, Rouet has also earned experience as Saracens Women attack coach in the highly competitive English Premiership. His tactical framework combines dynamic, high-tempo play with structured set-piece power which Canada Women will use all of as they visit Scotland for the first time since 2018.

Rouet’s squad selection strikes a balance between proven international quality and developmental depth as they prepare for three demanding fixtures in Europe. The 36-player roster features an experienced core returning to full availability, supplemented by emerging talent from age-grade pathways and crossover stars from the HSBC SVNS series including Charity Williams alongside Savannah Bauder.

Captaining the side is world-class back-rower Sophie de Goede, who fronts a strong leadership group supported by vice-captains Alexandra Tessier, Olivia Apps, and Justine Pelletier.
