Turn Up and Play at Scotland v England Women

1 Apr 2026

The first-ever Turn Up and Play event will be held at Scottish Gas Murrayfield ahead of Scotland Women's Guinness Six Nations fixture against England on Saturday 18 April

Scottish Rugby is excited to bring Turn Up and Play to the Scotland v England Guinness Women’s Six Nations match – an open, welcoming rugby experience designed especially for young people aged 8-14 (with younger children also welcome to get involved).

Whether it’s your first ever try at rugby or you’re keen to get back into it, this is your chance to show up, join in and have fun before cheering on Scotland’s best.

What is Turn Up and Play?

Turn Up and Play is Scottish Rugby’s movement to make rugby easy to try – no experience, no special kit, no pressure. It’s all about helping young people get active, feel confident and enjoy being part of something positive, through clubs, schools and community sessions across Scotland.

We focus on simple, welcoming, fun-first experiences built on three core principles:

  • Inclusive & low barrier: No experience, no kit and no prior knowledge required
  • Fun first: Friendship, belonging and feeling good about being active
  • Easy to access: Local, welcoming and simple next steps

This activation at the Scotland v England Guinness Six Nations Women’s game is part of the Turn Up and Play movement – a bold, no-fuss invitation to try rugby in a safe, social and high-energy environment.

What to expect

Our matchday Turn Up and Play session is:

  • Aimed at children aged 8–14 (younger children are welcome)
  • Mixed participation (boys and girls together), with coaching focused on fun games, teamwork and confidence
  • A simple, friendly first step into rugby, with no pressure, contact or complicated rules
  • Delivered by Scottish Rugby coaches who know how to make young people feel welcome and included

Just turn up, join in and have fun before heading into the stadium for a brilliant day of women’s rugby.

This event is free, but spaces are limited to make sure every young person gets the best experience possible.

Preregistration is available here.

Why join in?

  • Instant belonging – everyone is welcome
  • A confidence-building way to try rugby
  • A fun, social activity before the match
  • A great first step into local clubs and school rugby opportunities

Turn Up and Play is all about creating positive experiences that spark interest and help young people feel good about being active.

This matchday session is part of Scottish Rugby’s Turn Up and Play movement, supporting young people across Scotland to get involved in rugby in a way that is simple, social and enjoyable.
