Regional Pathways Under-16 festival heats up
Eight regional U16 sides will play at Stirling County RFC this Sunday as part of the second instalment of fixtures this season.
The festival will represents a chance for some players to represent their region for the first time, while for others it sees them build upon the fixtures held over the summer.
The fixtures are as follows:
- 10:30 – Caledonia Saltires v Glasgow & West Blues
- 10:30 – Edinburgh Cannons v Borders & East Lothian Reds
- 11:30 – Caledonia Saltires v Borders & East Lothian Reds
- 11:30 – Glasgow & The Blues v Edinburgh Cannons
- 12:30 – Caledonia Saltires v Edinburgh Cannons
- 12:30 – Glasgow & West Blues v Borders & East Lothian Reds
- 13:30 – Caledonia Thistles v Glasgow & West Whites
- 13:30 – Edinburgh Knights v Borders & East Lothian Whites
- 14:30 – Caledonia Thistles v Borders & East Lothian Whites
- 14:30 – Glasgow & West Whites v Edinburgh Knights
- 15:30 – Caledonia Thistles v Edinburgh Knights
- 15:30 – Glasgow & West Whites v Borders & East Lothian Whites
The U16 regional programme continues on Sunday 16 March before squads are selected for two Glasgow Warriors U16 v Edinburgh Rugby U16 fixtures in April.
Head of Regional Pathways and Game Development Neil Graham said:
“We’re really looking forward to seeing the players perform this weekend and continue to develop. It represents a new challenge for many of our players and a selection opportunity to progress into the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby U16 squads.
“The players have been selected from their performances with their clubs and schools, having had their first outing during the summer months.
“It’s another great opportunity for us to see the blueprint curriculum in action, and for our young players to test themselves against the best players in Scotland.”
